Jackie Sleight is fearless. Her dedication to education in the dance industry has been endless. She has been referred to in Dance Magazine as "the teachers' teacher," and has received numerous awards honoring her commitment to dance education. She has amassed years choreographing and television, film, and commercials, all while training some of the biggest names in the industry. When Jackie was just 24 years old, she started a production company called A Sleight Touch. Since then it has been the foundation of massive projects including L.A. DanceMagic, a national dance convention that trains and inspires thousands of young dancers annually, and after 25 years is stronger than ever, and continues to watch its students catapult to hugely successful careers. A Sleight Touch was also the brand name of a young dance group that won the Grand Championship on the iconic television show, Star Search. Since then A Sleight Touch has been listed as part of "80's pop culture."

Among Jackie's most recent accomplishments was the stunning jazz concert, Full Circle. Response from the dance community was heartwarming, overwhelming, and exactly the impetus needed to reestablish the Los Angeles Jazz Company. Jackie's vision is to maintain the legacy of jazz dance while encompassing its current popular vibe, and exploring its future. Our LAJC dancers hold jazz near to their hearts, respect its technique, and hope to pass along the passion they have for this art form.

When once asked in an interview what dance meant to her Jackie said, "Dance is what can make anything possible." It seems that she is proving that to be true once again.
